welcome to October the new month of independence. what is independence? independence is total freedom from the control of external force and the freedom with the complete right to govern your own affairs, make your own laws and constitution to guide your own affairs and activities with. however, independence simply means total dependence on God the supreme creator. you cannot said to be independent when you are still influenced by external force, and your character and decisions are still been manipulated and determined by a force or person outside your very own person.. external force i refer to is anything outside you that controls and determines your actions and decisions against what you really want for yourself. thereby making you to do what you don't want to do and denying you the joy and satisfaction of doing what you want to do. one cannot be independent of God, in fact your independence as a person or nation comes from him. we are only independent to serve him , to follow and obey his laws. apart from that , one remains a slave, because it is only in him we can gain total freedom with the right to decide for ourselves as a free moral beings, practice justice and righteousness. he gives the right to choose what is right and wrong. in Eden, he gave the first man and his wife that right to choose by allowing the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden though they chose wrongly, but it is clear by that fact that independence is from God and not from men. no mortal in his natural pride and greed would naturally think of freedom for another, because it is only God that has such loving heart to give it. he never forces his will on any, but he simply advises you on the benefit of choosing his will for you and the consequence of not, but he allows you to choose. and as a free moral being you are responsible for your own action and decision., you must take full responsibility for its outcome. he says, "i am the way" and i am the Lord who teaches and leads you in the way you should go" this implies he is the way you must follow to attain unto perfection and enjoy independence. His word which is his law is the compass for you to make the right decisions. God granted israel total freedom from the bondage of being influenced, controlled and oppressed by pharoah and the witch craft of egypt, and in the journey to the promised land he gave them laws and told them their independence depends on their dependence on God and his laws. i would like us to appreciate the in depth of what God did for israel in egypt. God said, by his mighty hand he brought israel out of egypt, because israel was under strong influence and oppression. when God delivers he grants both freedom and independence. Galatians 5:1 says, "for Freedom (independence of all external forces but united with God to be dependent on him) Christ hath made us free(liberated to exercise our rights)" if you have this freedom in Christ already i say, happy independence to you. if you don't then you need Jesus right now in your life to gain this independence. why don't you now ask him into your life?
