RevolutionNow: Court to rule on Sowore’s detention order on Thursday, August 8

- The application filed by DSS seeking an order to detain Omoyele Sowore will be heard on Thursday, August 8
- DSS is urging the judge to grant the application seeking to detain him beyond 48 hours
- A video clip was attached as evidence to the application
An Abuja Federal High Court will on Thursday, August 8, rule in the application filed by the Department of State Service (DSS), seeking an order to detain Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC)’s presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, for 90 days pending the conclusion of its investigation.
In an exparte order with number: FHC/ABJ/CS/915/19, counsel to the DSS, G. O. Agbadua, told Justice Taiwo Taiwo that a video clip evidence was also attached to the application.


Sowore speaks from DSS detention, thanks Nigerians for support

- Omoyele Sowore said he was being treated well in DSS detention following his arrest
- The former presidential candidate was arrested over his planned RevolutionNow protest
- Sowore thanked Nigerians for the peaceful protest which took place in his absence
Omoyele Sowore who is the convener of the RevolutionNow protest has spoken from the detention of the Department of State Services (DSS) saying he thanked Nigerians for the peaceful protest.
According to Sahara Reporters, Sowore spoke on Monday, August 5, when he was visited by the Take It Back movement at the DSS facility.
Sowore said he was being treated well and in good health. He applauded Nigerians for still going ahead with the planned protest.


However, the Democracy Watch Africa, which describes itself as umbrella body of over 30 civil society organisations in West Africa, staged a counter-protest against the #RevolutionNow movement.
 the group took to the streets in Lagos on Monday, August 5, and headed to the seat of power in Alausa as they called for caution over the planned protest by the coalition led by Sowore and others.
